Contemporary ocean art painting called Break The Silence by artist Scott Denholm.
Sometimes I struggle and deliberate for days to find the right name for a painting. As some of you know, I name my paintings using song lyrics and matching a song’s content, lyrics and a painting can be a difficult task- but this one just happened to fall into place almost instantly when it came time to name it. Through most of the process of painting this piece, I had been listening to a group called Fleetmac Wood – a DJ/cover band if you will – who sample Fleetwood Mac songs and interviews and turn them into hour long tracks.
The Chain is one of those tracks and for as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with the bass line breakdown at the end of The Chain and this particular track I was listening to samples it for ages and it just seems to go with the mood of the painting, bright and optimistic, with hints of distress and isolation.
“Listen to the wind blow down comes the night.
Running in the shadows damn your love, damn your lies.
Break the silence, damn the dark, damn the light”
